Reason for Choosing this Course
I have the passion to learn this course because I have the plans to visit Canada and probably acquire residency in the country. The anticipation to settle in the country urges me to know more about the health care system since medical care is essential not only for survival but also for enjoying a better life. In this case, I thought that learning about the system would aid in helping me cope in a foreign country.
The Canadian Health Care system
The health care system in Canada is determined by the constitution. The responsibilities in the system are divided between federal, provincial and territorial governments (International Travel Insurance Group, 2018). Each of the bodies had various roles to perform in the process of providing efficient health and social services to the citizens in the country. In this case, the 1984 Act guiding the Canadian Health gives various regulations and principles that must be followed to enhance efficiency in the system. First, the system is universal, giving all citizens in Canada the right to access all medical and insurance services on a standard basis and conditions without discrimination (International Travel Insurance Group, 2018). The provincial health strategies must ensure the provision of all services that are medically required for the achievement of a healthy population. All insured individuals have the freedom of accessibility to the insured services without restrictions or barriers. The system is portable; all the covered people in Canada can access medical services outside their province of resident. Finally, the system offers public administration services on a non-profit basis through the institution of public authority. The Canadian health care system is efficient irrespective of the division nature of the roles involved in the provision of the medical services.
