The profession of nursing has a direct impact on the policy and political process of a country. It is the obligation of every nation to provide better healthcare to its citizen. The link between government and its people is the nurse. It is a moral duty for a nurse to be part of the legislation process of any country. By agitating for policies that improve the provision of good healthcare, they are directly engaging in the political process. A nurse must present a problem facing his or her community to relevant authorities for a solution, or influence legislation to solve the same.
Coronary cardiovascular or heart disease refers to different medical conditions of the heart. These conditions include heart attack, heart disease, stroke, heart failure, arrhythmia and heart valve problems (Rodger, 2011). As a nurse, this is a problem which I have identified in my community and two out of six patients I handle suffer from coronary cardiovascular disease. This problem has come with its challenges, considering the number of resources it takes to treat heart complications. I have therefore conducted extensive research, on how household are affected when a member of their family is diagnosed with heart disease. Also, many patients who get diagnosed with heart disease do not know they have this condition until it is very late and is at its severe stages. The proposal I’m making is to look into ways of offering free testing and treatment to both patients and members of the community. A proposal that is anchored in the law, making every facility adheres to it, to help contain the rapid spread of cardiovascular disease.
