Introduction
Older patients are at high risk of depression, but few studies have focused on the link between physical activities and the intensive of depressive symptoms. While mental health promotion is prioritized to improve the health of older patients, the condition is often untreated. Social isolation and physical functional decline are risk factors associated with depression, even as the condition is highly treatable few interventions have integrated physical activity.

Major depression affects up to 5% of the older population while the clinically significant depressive symptoms affect 3-26% of the older patients in community dwellings (Lee et al., 2014). While the depression symptoms are less severe than major depression, they increase health care costs and disrupt the lives of older patients (Lee et al., 2014).
Key points and findings
Physical activities were associated with lowering the risk of depressive symptoms, and this highlighted the need to consider changes in physical activities to improve physical and mental health outcomes (Lee et al., 2014). As physical activities are potentially protective against the depressive symptoms among elderly patients with depression, encouraging physical activities among those who live sedentary lives should be prioritized.
Use of information in practice 
The article highlights that integrating physical engagement among older patients’ requirements some adjustments in the lives of older patients. While the approach is beneficial, I would consider the patient history and experience in physical activities. The less active patients are most likely to benefit from the intervention and older patients may have other underlying heath problems.
