Christian Spirituality Perspective and Postmodern Relativism in Healthcare
The bible is the basic and sole reference tool that Christians turn to whenever a misfortune such as sickness strikes. Their understanding of nature is that God controls everything and has a hand in every eventuality of life. For instance, in cases of a misfortune such as sickness, it is considered as a responsibility of God and it is Him who can heal them. It is because of this that some Christians are reluctant to seek medical or healthcare services from healthcare facilities because they do not believe postmodern healing practices (Vaessens et al., 2011). It is such views that makes it absolutely important for healthcare providers to customize their approaches when attending to patients. The inner beliefs of an individual affect the healing process either directly or indirectly. When healthcare services are provided to the patients based on their religion, they are more comfortable to not only talk with the care providers but also aid in faster healing process. Beliefs such as those of Christians in deities, practices like prayers, and rituals like sacrifices are the defining hallmarks of spirituality. These practices constitute the basic spiritual tools impacting on healthcare (Stenmark, 2017).
Postmodern relativism perspective of health on the other hand is to the effect that a sick person should seek medical services in hospital without necessarily depending on God for healing. Whereas this perspective can stand on its own without involving the aspects of beliefs, it only works efficiently when the two are combined. The combined approach of spirituality and postmodern relativism in healthcare gave birth to a sound slogan of “Patient prevents, Hospital cures but God heals.”

Scientism and Main Arguments against It
Scientism is the expression of irresistible belief in the capacity of scientific knowledge (Crosby, 2014). It is noteworthy that scientism and its elements are solely based on principle and options that can be verified scientifically. As such its claims are often proof-based and dominated with philosophical theories that are wild in their content and context. One of the arguments against scientism or philosophy of science is the claim that the existence of living is controlled by chemical and physical reaction of molecules. The reality is that there are other existences which are beyond biological explanation but rather rely on self-constitution of living things (Crosby, 2014 &Robinson et al., 2016). Another argument against scientism is that even though it is capable of measuring the functioning of the brain, it cannot measure the external experience of the human. Human beings are by their very nature subjective while science is objective in nature. As such, external characters, self-perspective and experience influence behavioral changes (Crosby, 2014).
