1.What group did you attend?
* People who desire support with overcoming drinking problems, alcohol addiction, and maintaining sobriety have the option of attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
2.Discuss the history of the group. What was the target population?
* In 1935, this Alcoholics Anonymous was created by Bill Wilson. Wison has been out of focused due to his drinking vices that resulted to his failure at his Wall Street career. His friends tried to help him including Ebby Thacher, a childhood drinking buddy. Ebby claimed that a Christian movement, Oxford Group, had helped him be sober that changed his life. Bill was also influenced by Dr. William Duncan Silkworth of Towns Hospital in NYC, who advised Bill about alcoholism as a disease and only God has the power to cure it. He was able to finally quit drinking. Then he met another recovering alcoholic during his trip to Akron, Ohio, Dr. Bob Smith and sought him for support. They co-founded the AA. Initially, it started out small which they helped 40 alcoholics during its first two years. They work tirelessly towards sobriety along with the strengthening of their relationship with God.
3.Identify the function and purpose of the group?
* The purpose of the group is to be able to help people who are suffering from alcoholism and to allow them to cope with common problem involving its abuse. It also is a form of aftercare and an alcohol rehabilitation in facilitating recovery.
4.Describe the physical conditions of the meeting including room size, seating, number of persons attending. Did the size and physical environment help or hinder the content and process of the group?
