Hypertension is a condition that is also known as high blood pressure. It is a persistent clinical disorder that involves the rising of the blood pressure in the arteries of the blood circulatory system. Statistics from the Centre for Disease control, (2014) indicate that around 67 million Americans are victims of high blood pressure or hypertension. This accounts for around one person in every three Americans. The Centre for Disease Controll also indicates that around 47% if that number have their hypertension under control. The condition increases the probability of those suffering from it to suffer from heart disease or stroke. This accounts for the major causes of death among the Americans. Hypertension has also been described by some researchers as the silent killer.
