Growing older seems scary -greying hair, dementia, crumples, and multiple chronic diseases. In reality, the aged are more prone to health issues, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Persons aged 65 and above have a high risk to mental impairment, physical injury, malnutrition, sensory impairments, deprived oral health, incontinence and constipation (Bergmark & Sedaghat, 2017). Thus, health promotion to the elderly improves their immunity, enhance self-care, and stimulate their social network.
Health providers play an essential role in sustaining a healthy ageing population. Health promotion is the foundation of geriatric medicine- and health providers, including nurses, have a vital role to play (Palfrey, 2018). While effectively implemented, health promotion improves a patient’s quality of life as well as longevity (Linnan et al., 2019).
