Ear, nose, and oral cavity disorders, more especially infections, are prevalent among children. The impacts of these occurrences are considerably variable, from minor disturbances that do not need hospitalization, to life-threatening problems (Haber et al., 2018). In the United States, for example, ear infections occur almost as frequently as common cold.
Ear infections can develop behind the eardrum – otitis media, or in front of the eardrum – external otitis. Typically, acute otitis media is the most prevalent ear problems among children, babies, and toddlers. Research shows that five in every six children develop ear infection before their third birthday (Awad & ElTaher, 2018). Kids suffering from ear infection more particularly acute otitis have problems with balance, trouble sleeping, tugging, difficulties in hearing and responding to quiet sounds.
On the other hand, eye infections are common in pediatric clinics. Pediatric eye infections are very contagious, thus health providers and caregivers should be cautious especially when administering diseases to avoid new infections. Normally, pediatric eye infections cause eye or eyes to become inflamed and irritated (Awad & ElTaher, 2018). Amblyopia, astigmatism-farsightedness-nearsightedness, epiphora, cortical visual impairment, conjunctivitis, double vision, glaucoma, nystagmus, cataract are the common eye disorders in children.
