The Stages of Reproductive Aging Workshop (STRAW) classified adult female reproductive function into three comprehensive stages (Bacon & Tomich, 2017, p. 286). These are reproductive, menopausal transition, and post-menopause. These three expansive stages were divided into seven stages based on the final menstrual period (FMP) (Paramsothy et al., 2017). Reproductive stage was classified into stages -5, -4, and -3 that corresponds to early, peak, late respectively. The menopausal transition comprises of stage -2, which are early and stage -1 which is late. Post-menopause has stage +1, which is early and +2, which is late. Stage -3 means having consistent menstrual cycle while -2 is variability in the menstrual cycle. Skipped cycles for at least 60 days fall under -1 (Perlman et al., 2018).
