Introduction
Medical information systems are present in many hospitals. The information systems play a very important role in hospitals. Due to the current health care challenges, hospitals are tasked with the responsibility of improving patient outcomes, and executing quality initiatives (Ross, 2013). This paper analyzes the role of information systems in health care.
Importance of Medical Information Systems
Medical information systems help to support decision making and planning in hospitals. This is through the core functions they perform that include the generation and compilation of data, analysis and synthesis of data, and communication. The systems collect raw data from health care and other related fields, analyzes the data and ensures their quality and importance, and converts data into information required in making decisions relating to health care industry (Panerai, 2009).
