Together with the rest of the health care providers such as the physicians, they are responsible for offering collaborated care to the patients in their homes (American Psychiatric Association, 2018). This a crucial group of the health care providers as they also play the role of supervising the quality of care that is disseminated to the patients. This is considering the level of care offered in the Veteran Health Administration program is patient centered. The APRNs are also able to conduct health care provision without the supervision of a physician as of 2013.
It is crucial to mention that the APRNs as of 2013, have the training that allows them to take on roles in the PCMH without the supervision of the physicians. This is a crucial element given the fact that they can be given roles which the physician is confident that they will tackle (Baldwin et al., 2010). This reduces the amount of work that the physician has to do as they are assisted by the APRNs. At the same time, they are part of the support system, where they offer their insights in the various situations.
