Features of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) include increased access, lowered costs, and improved quality of care (Shasta Community Health Centre, 2018). Increased access means that more families and individuals will be able to access and purchase private health insurance. Young dependable adults up to the age of 26 will be protected and allowed to be included in their parent's plans. All health plans must involve preventive care and specific medical screenings (Shasta Community Health Centre, 2018). Lowered costs and the improved quality plan include the expansion of preventive and prescription of drug benefits. ACA will also support existing Medicare benefits.
Such features of the ACA will control costs and improve the quality of care by establishing national priorities and strategies to improve the quality of healthcare, which mainly features on the prioritization of the development of quality measures. Additionally, all health care providers will be compelled by the Act to report all quality measures put in place at their place of work or risk being penalized.
