Baseline and Goal Writing Based on Standardized Assessment Education
Identify areas of need for the student you assessed in the Standardized Assessment assignment ( I uploaded here). For the purposes of this assignment, any score under 90 is an area of need.
Write baselines and goals for each area of need. One, two, or three baselines and goals need to be written for each are of need:
If 6 areas of need were identified, you need 1 baseline and goal for each area.
If 4-5 areas of need were identified, you need a total of 6 baselines and goals (3 areas will need 2 goals each).
If 3 areas of need were identified, you need 2 baselines and goals for each area.
Note. If you identified less than 3 areas of need, contact your professor prior to completing this assignment.

Provide 6
baselines and goals to earn full points for this assignment.
Baselines and goals must be tied together. The baseline is where the student is currently performing in the identified area of need. If the student does not have enough areas of need, for this assignment, write some goals that will extend the student’s knowledge. The clearer and more detailed the baseline is, the better the goal will be for the student.
Baseline Goal (all 6 of the colored components need to be here)
Sample: ‘B’' is able to count orally to 7. Sample: By 12/8/17, when given the opportunity to count orally She can write the numerals 1, 2, and 3. and write her numbers on paper, “B" will be able to count orally She currently writes her 2's and 3’s to 20 and write her numerals to 20 with the numerals written backward. correctly with 100% accuracy* in 3 consecutive trials as
measured by teacher charted data for oral numbers and student work samples for written numerals. 'Accuracy should be no less than 80% and it should be 3 consecutive trials. If a student can do something 3 times in a row then they have likely mastered the goal.Version 1

Understanding baseline assessments is important in order for an educator to set his goals accordingly. Using measures taken before the teaching process could help the teacher assess the strengths and weaknesses of the child, tailor a specific course of instruction for him, and monitor the child’s improvement accordingly. In line with the author’s case study, he found out that the student seems to have a significant difficulty for the following areas of need; (1) Reading Comprehension, (2) Spelling, and (3) Sentence Reading Fluency. Accordingly, the following sections would discuss the different baselines and goals for each area.
Areas of Need
Reading Comprehension
Based from the student’s assessment it seems that one of the student’s weakness is reading comprehension. It could be noted that the student got a score of 76 over 91, which presents a 15-point difference from what was predicted. Accordingly, the baseline measures that could be used for this would be (1) reading retention and (2) reading assessment. On the one hand, reading retention refers to how much the student retains the ‘information’ of the story that she read. The goal for this measure is to assess whether the student incorporates both the general (i.e., plot) and specific (i.e., favorite food of the character) short-term information in her long-term memory, which is suggestive of reading comprehension CITATION Mot11 \l 1033 (Motallebzadeh & Ganjali, 2011).
On the other hand, reading assessment would focus on the capacity of the child to assess the article that is given. The main goal for this is to have her ask questions about the article or to be able to answer simple questions by deducing implicitly from the facts of the story.
