Chapter two, Grammar, Standardization, and Language Authorities, had numerous interesting topics. One of the outstanding subjects was grammar. As an emerging American Sign Language (ASL) teacher, I understand that grammar is essential in teaching. In reality, I cannot imagine my life without grammar. Grammar is crucial for students’ future. Grammar marks the boundary of what is right and wrong. From prescriptive rules, ASL examines all levels of linguistic analysis, including phonology, morphology, syntax, and discourse (Tamasi & Antieau, 2015).
