There are numerous discoveries which scientist have made about the universe. Additionally, the development of new technologies has made it possible for a scientist to assess and challenge previous findings. It is necessary to comprehend that for students to understand the different concepts about the universe; they are required to know what is already known about space science. Since students are likely to find it challenging connecting the motion of different objects in the sky, it is essential to develop and implement effective approaches that may be used to aid learners learn about astronomy. Effective learning strategies are those which would enable students to understand complex spatial thinking. The literature is aimed at evaluating and discussing methods and approaches provided in different and explain how the insights offered may be used in an elementary classroom.
The article “Embodying Earth’s Place in the Solar System” by Julia Plummer stipulates that there is a need for changing how the students are taught about the movement of the earth around the sun. Instead of providing students with numerous astronomical phenomena such as the seasonal changes in constellations and the concepts of the sun rising, it is necessary to inform the student that it is the earth that moves and neither the sun or the stars (Plummer, 2015). The author has emphasized that if the students are not made aware of the change over time and other related astronomical phenomena, then it is impossible for them to comprehend how astronomers develop and implement different scientific models.
Plummer has examined the benefits of developing and implementing embodied learning strategies when teaching about the motion of the earth around the solar system. Ideally, embodied cognition would be useful to the students because it helps in explaining the activities taking place in the solar system through listening, observation, and physical engagement. The author notes that embodied learning strategies would be critical in helping learners to use their bodies to identify and focus on concepts that they do not have vocabularies to express.

The students also hold different views about constellations changes overtimes, there are those who believe that it is attributed to the earth’s rotation while others maintain that it is because the sun orbit around the sun. Drawing the different concepts of the solar system would also be critical in enabling the students to capture features that may be challenging for them to express in the writing.
