Learning objective
After this lesson, every student must demonstrate in-depth understanding in managing and preventing hospital-acquired infections in healthcare settings, particularly in hospital wards, emergency rooms, home-based, and operations rooms.
Specific objectives
1 Students will demonstrate a clear understanding of nosocomial diseases
2 Students will be able to explain the different types of hospital-acquired infections.
3 Learners will be able to explain different methods of preventing hospital-acquired infections.
4 Students will explain their role as nurses in reducing morbidity and mortality rates of hospital-acquired infections.
This lesson will take two to four class days to complete. One lesson will be conducted in a healthcare setting to equip students with practical skills in managing and preventing nosocomial infections. The classroom will have between fifteen and twenty students.
Preparation
The educator will ensure that he has secured a classroom if one is not readily available. This will ensure that time is not wasted while looking for a classroom. Also, the teacher will notify the health facility where they will have practical exposure. The teacher will also ensure that all materials are available before the start of the lesson. Moreover, the teacher will ensure the availability of learning tools that aid students with diverse learning needs. In a nutshell, the educator will ensure that all learning materials are readily available before the lesson starts.

Every lesson must accommodate the needs of each student. The main objective of any lesson is to improve every student's knowledge and skills. Although no student is better than the other, regular students have an advantage over students with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. According to Moore-Cox (2017), educators must adopt special programs and accommodations to help students with learning disabilities to get on the same level as regular students. This lesson will be modified to accommodate the needs of students with visual, hearing, and physical disabilities.
Instructional aids
Teaching aids are essential elements in any classroom. They help students improve their comprehension skills, differentiate instructions, reinforce skill or concept, and relieve anxiety by presenting data in an interesting way (Moore-Cox, 2017). This lesson will use thematic instructions, students' groups, visuals, timers, manipulatives, and reward systems such as incentives.
Students will be required to form groups of less than five people. Students with different learning needs will be placed in the same groups. For instance, students with sight challenges will be placed in one group, while those with hearing difficulties will be placed in another group.
