Are the dolls really racially correct? Are they anatomically correct? Do the books illustrate all cultures? Are their dress up clothes for boys and girls? Is the Center avaiable to disabled children? Early childhood education refers to the formal learning given to children at their early age. It is the first practical learning institution for children. The early childhood education bears several names. These are nursery school, pre-kindergarten, pre-school, childcare, early education and day care. This education has various settings namely; home-based, in urban, public schools, rural community, center-based among others. These schools operate privately as businesses for profit gain, or non-profit institutions. However, other schools operate under the public schools. Find herein a summary of personal environmental observations and Anti- Biased Curriculum practices in a pre-school called the Gifted hands.
The Anti-Bias Curriculum as Derman Sparks` states in his book ‘Anti-Bias Curriculum tools for empowering children` refers to embracement of multicultural education. The Gifted hands pre-school offers childcare education and their commitment to the children continues. The pre-school contains children from the age of two to eight years and it provides the tools that the children need for their achievement in all the phases of life. There are various classrooms for the children`s tuition. The children learn from different classes and according to their age group. Enough professional and competent teachers provide quality learning in that pre-school. The ratio of teachers to children is one teacher to fifteen children. This is a good sign of Anti-Bias Curriculum since the ratio is manageable. Moreover, the fact that the pre-school contains a mixture of different children from different races and background is evidence. There are Americans, Indians, Africans and Chinese children.
