Introduction
As the economies grow so does the job market and the associated needs. People in the work places are being forced to take up advancement courses to meet their career demands and relative to the pressure in the various industries. This need in education does not match the educational needs in the population at large. However, over the last several decades, education needs have increased and the formal systems do not have the capacity to handle the demand. Traditional classes have thus found a new competitor in online massive open online courses. This a positive aspect for the persons in the work place and would want to advance their careers through educational mile stones but do not have the time for the traditional classes. As such, the flexibility has a specific appeal to quite a large population. One other aspect that is considered is that, the courses are quite cheap. This is one of the elements of higher education that has been cited from many quotas as a challenge. Relative to the high cost of education from the traditional platforms, the MOOCs offer courses at a cheaper rate which is appealing to a very large population.
