Teachers who engage students in an excellent language interaction, good listening, purposeful and content-rich instruction build their skills and foster later reading success. By acting as role models, providers, or facilitators, they promote language learning and literacy to children, including those who are less likely to experience early childhood surrounding in the community or home. Teachers strive to form classroom environments where students access high-quality language in different forms. Language acquisition is critical in student communication, reading, and writing. In any school, various roles are performed by learners. Learners are expected to cooperate with classroom activities, behave well, and address other students or the teacher with respect. An early childhood teacher engages students in various developmentally appropriate activities. This essay discusses the key features of a teacher's role as a model, provider, and facilitator in promoting language learning and literacy. Practical ways that each role a teacher plays are discussed in the essay.
Teachers act as role models to inspire and encourage many students in the classroom. Teachers teach students information that they remember and put to use. Students watch each move a teacher makes, whether it is negative or positive. Teachers act as role models by making positive remarks during class interaction sessions. For example, if a student answers the question right, the teacher might say, "well done, Elizabeth, that is Correct." Suppose the comments made in the heat of the moment or when in conflict with a student are negative and humiliating. In that case, students often pick up and think it is okay to humiliate another student. In essence, a teacher could contribute unknowingly to the bullying of another student. Thus, teachers act as role models by expressing different ideas peacefully. They read the books to children daily to stimulate their imagination and expand their understanding of the world. The teacher should ensure that each child sees the book when reading stories to young children in the class. Besides, using visuals during classwork depicts teachers as role models. Teachers act as role models in the classroom through effective listening during discussions (Gonulal, 2020). For example, the teacher could ask a question and listen carefully when a student is answering. Students imitate this step during discussion or answering forums in the classroom. Through guiding and counseling, teachers encourage growth in young children. Ultimately, teachers' dedication inspires the students in the class to learn more and portray them as role models in promoting literacy and language learning.
Teachers serve as resource providers by navigating textbooks, developing instructional activities or materials, and offering practical help in the classroom. Teachers assist children in developing their learning difficulties, for example, by using charts when reading storybooks to enhance writing and reading skills. In order to achieve this agenda, teachers ensure they are organized, motivating, and understand the individual needs of each student. ...
