            Educational institutions serve to nurture the intellectuality of children as well as instil moral values that are of great importance to their overall growth and development. The intellectual function might seem straightforward and easy to attain but the moral development domain might prove to be an uphill task, requiring a more divergent approach to accommodate every aspect of education. Numerous resources can adequately enhance the professionalism of an educator. However, the approaches demonstrated from the resources ‘A Class Divided’ (Peters, 1987)  and "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack" (McIntosh, 2007) are certainly among the most perfect choices in any attempt to foster the holistic professional development of an educator, characterized by cultural competence, effective relationships, and excellent educational experience.
             Oftentimes, the fight against racial discrimination, an important facet in ensuring cultural competence mainly focuses on the minority groups, placing them as the most obvious underdogs. McIntosh (2007) takes a more proactive approach of tackling the prejudice, urging the whites who are often perceived to be on the better side of the scenario to own up to their misused privileges in oppressing the minority groups. Peters (1987) on the other hand took it a notch higher and subjected the whites under the circumstances that the discriminants often undergo. By embracing these approaches, the educators can bring up a generation capable of respecting other peoples' culture, race, denouncing injustices, and championing for equal education, thus fostering cultural competence.
