As one of the special education personnel on campus, you have been asked to plan and facilitate a motivating 20-minute family activity that will result in more families becoming involved with students with special needs either on campus or at home.

Develop a plan for an activity to increase family involvement with students with special needs.

Address the following questions in your plan:

Option B: Teacher and Paraprofessional Roles and Responsibilities Plan

Imagine that you have recently noticed that the general and special education teachers and the paraprofessionals at your school have been duplicating efforts or expecting one of the others to carry out certain classroom activities. You have been tasked with clarifying the roles and responsibilities of the general and special education teachers and the paraprofessionals.

Create a checklist to help you develop a plan for setting the initial expectations of the working conditions and responsibilities among the general education teacher, special education teacher, and paraprofessionals.

Address the following questions in your checklist:

  • What are the responsibilities in the classroom?
  • Who is responsible for what?
  • How is time allotted for certain tasks?
