English allows speakers to create new words because of the need to expand their vocabulary. Although there are so many English words in the dictionaries, new words are created every year because English has given speakers many ways of forming new words. English allows speakers to create brand new words through affixes where morphemes are added to certain words. Further, new words such as Chiraq and Chiberia, are formed through blending. This is when “…words are created by combining parts of words (Finegan, 2008).” Chiraq is a combination of the words Chicago and Iraq while Chiberia is the combination of the words Chicago and Siberia.
