A class management plan is vital in any educational setting as a safe environment for students promotes effective learning. This is quite different from punishing behavior problems but involves setting the right tone in class by implementing curriculums and engaging all students in a classroom (Miang-Tak & Wai-Shing, 2008). Having a favorable environment for all students to learn is my main objective in implementing a good classroom management plan.
Direct Instruction
This is a type of instruction where the teacher will be directing the learning activities to the class as a whole group. The goal for this instruction is to make students have a clear understanding of all the class requirements. In addition, the students will have an opportunity to ask questions when they are in doubt. It is therefore a requirement for the teacher to be audible and articulate to be understood by the whole class (Powell, 2009). The rule for this goal is that students will be required to respect one another including the teacher and hence must avoid any abusive language whatsoever. The consequence for this rule is that the effected student will be required to wash the classroom floor alone after the evening classes. The reinforcement for this rule is that students who never break this rule will be awarded with a novel of their choice.
Cooperative Work
In this type of instruction the students will work independently in small groups or in pairs. They however have to receive the general instructions from the teacher on what to discuss in their groups. The goal for this type of instruction is to develop interpersonal relationships and to encourage sharing of skills as students will have a chance to interact.
