Introduction
Child obesity is one of the national and ideally international major public health crises. In the last few years there have been increases in the number of children that are obese to staggering figures(Karnik & Kanekar, 2012). Technically, it means that the child that is said to be obese has some form of imbalance in their levels of calories intake and that of the calories utilized in the body(Bishop, Middendorf, Babin & Tilson, 2005). This implies that the child is taking in more calories than they are utilizing within their body. These children are bound to build a lot of fat deposits in their body, thereby building more weight than the average child.
Obesity overview
In the USA there are on average one child for every five that is suffering from obesity and this number is set to rise given the lifestyle most of the population has adopted in the last several decades(Cdc.gov, 2014). Although the rate of developing health related complications is not virtually as fast in children that is common in the adults, there is a high risk involved. Being overweight at this age means that they may likely grow up to be obese and this will be associated with health risks, such as heart diseases and diabetes. Most of these diseases are chronic and other than the fact that they are associated with fatal complications they may also have social related complication that in most of the cases, worsen the situation and can lead to more health risks. Some of the most common health risks that have been found to affect the children who are obese include high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, bone complications, heat diseases and skin condition such as acne, heat rash and even fungal infections(Karnik & Kanekar, 2012).

Genes are at the core of the way one’s body metabolizes certain elements in the body such as calories and controls the rate utilization. Behavioral factors also play a great role in the obesity crisis. If the child is taking in high calories foods and then does not often take part in physical activities, they are likely to store up more fat as a result of the calories that are not utilized(Cdc.gov, 2014). In this age of technology, most children will prefer to stay indoors and play video games watch movies or interact with the gadgets in the house. This is a sedentary lifestyle and it plays a great role in developing obesity in children. The environmental factors also have a part to play. The environment in this case being the parents at home, the school and the community that the child is in direct contact with. If within all of thes...
