Response to Intervention (RTI) or Multi-tier System of Supports (MTSS) as effective tools to assess potential learning disabilities and address them as soon as possible. Generally, these support systems are composed of four steps, which are (1) Universal Screening, (2) Teaching with Evidence-based Practices and Curriculum, (3) Monitoring, and (4) Tiered Interventions CITATION Uni19 \l 1033 (University of Kansas.Edu, 2019).
The first step in the process allows the educator to have a baseline assessment of the student’s capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses. This would be followed by a subsequent teaching of the regular curriculum that all students undergo through in order to bolster their understanding of possible areas of improvement, especially in cases when the child finds difficulty in complying with their instructions. Thereafter, a continuous monitoring of the child’s progress should be conducted through a series of quizzes and other measurement tools. Lastly, a determination of the possible issues should be done with the help of tiered interventions.
