Religious education in most public schools has been a controversial and hot-button issue for a long time. Most of the scholars have their own set of beliefs that they follow. There have been several cases filed to court to protect students' rights in a school context. Students were recently asked to submit an essay and a drawing depicting the person they regarded as their belief and idol. Generally, before grading and publishing the work, it is necessary to address any potential legal issues because one student selected Jesus as his icon and submitted a sketch depicting Jesus and the Last Supper. Arguably, First Amendment legal concerns that arise whenever a student submits a religiously themed work can shed light on how the First Amendment only applies in the classroom (Pfeffer, 2021). No rules or laws were broken by the student who wanted to write an essay about Jesus.
Contrary, grading laws in the U.S. Similar rulings have been made in the past concerning the grading of coursework containing religious content (Weber, 2021). Because of this, they were constitutionally protected as long as their "symbolic speech" did not interfere with routine school operations. In the same way, religious opinions can be expressed in school as long as they do not interfere with the educational process. Devotion or commitment to religious faith or practice characterizes something as a religion (Holcomb, 2020). Some of the people's inalienable rights are outlined in the first amendment to the US Constitution. Technically, the First Amendment of the US Constitution asserts that Congress cannot make any law establishing a religion, prohibiting the free speech rights or abridging the general freedom of press or speech and that the people peacefully assemble, and to advocate the national government for an address and redress of grievances.
