Summary
The Human Experience is a film that seeks to celebrate and appreciate the gift of life. Young men set out to observe life in New York, Peru, and Ghana. Throughout their journey as well as the encounters they have, the young men emphasize the point that life is made up of experiences, moments, and other people.
Experience 1
In experience 1, the young men join the homeless community in New York in the hope of understanding what they go through on a daily basis. For several days, the boys live on the street, sleep on the streets, and move around asking for money and food. At one point, Cliff admits that he is ready to “call it quits” because of the cold. However, he perseveres and together they are able to spend several cold nights and days on the streets. In this experience, Cliff and Jeff are able to empathize with and comprehend the difficult life and journey of the homeless community.
Experience 2
In this experience, Cliff and Jeff are in Peru and the main point of this experience is appreciating one’s life regardless of the challenges, unfavorable circumstances, and drawbacks. With a team of other young men who surf, Cliff and Jeff set out to meet The Lost Children of Peru. These children come from families that are poor or that despise them. However, regardless of their conditions and oblivious to how their families view them, the children smile and wake up each day looking forward to the events of the day. They are unfazed and seem to have faith that all is and will be well.
