Compose an essay, 3-5 pages in length, in which you adopt the perspective of your fiercest critic. This will be done in two parts.
First, return to the scenario that would be deeply problematic for you as a leader that you developed in your Competency 2 Post-Test. Reiterate what makes the situation so problematic, elaborate your proposed solution to the problem, and why you would solve it in that way.
Second, adopt the perspective of the thinker who you think would be your fiercest critic and critique your proposed solution as thoroughly as you can from that perspective. Why would that thinker disagree with your solution? What does that disagreement teach you about what you still need to learn in order to become a "good" leader?

Not every good decision of organizational leaders can benefit everyone. Despite his earnest efforts, there are times when a leader must make the hard decision that could be to the detriment of his members or even himself. In the past assignment, one of the common dilemmas that the author has faced during his leadership was discussed. As stated before, it was a dilemma wherein he is required to balance between maintaining the idea of responsibility and accountability and the need for compassion and sympathy. In this paper, the previous dilemma and the decisions that the author has made as a leader would be discussed. This includes the actions that he took. Accordingly, a deeper analysis would be made based on the ideas of thinkers throughout history. The author believes that a reflection of how thinkers would ‘disagree’ with his own decision could help him realize any improvements in his decision making in the future.
The Dilemma
The main dilemma that the author experienced happened when he served as a leader for an academic project that also serves as a final requirement. Since the project weighs 30% of the overall grade for the subject, the instructor gave the leader the authority to remove a member for grounds of ‘tardiness’ or ‘lack of cooperation’ upon the initiative of his groupmates. Although the requirement went smoothly at first, one of the members has repeatedly become absent saying that he was sick. Although he had valid reasons for his tardiness, the members did not believe him and initiated a complaint to remove him from the group since he was known for being a habitual liar. Additionally, even though the member provided them with medical certificates, the members stipulated that such may be fabricated and decided to remove him from the group. In other words, the dilemma that the leader faced is based on choosing whether to remove his teammate or not.
What makes this dilemma more difficult is the fact that the leader would have to balance between group virtues and humanity. On the one hand, if he decides not to remove his teammates despite repeated tardiness, this could affect the team’s performance. It could encourage other members to stop helping too since they know that their tardiness would merit the same grade as others. On the other hand, removing the member would also become problematic because of the inherent prejudice of the other members. It was shown that even without confirming the veracity of the facts, some of the members look negatively at him because of his reputation of being a liar. Thus, if he removes the name of the member and it turns out that he was sick, then he would be at fault if the student would not pass the semester.
Nonetheless, it was shown that the author focused on balancing the situ...
