For men the figure stands at one in seven (Nonell, 2013). Almost 46.7% females in the united states have been victims of rape and 44.9% males have been victims of domestic violence by an acquaintance. Out of this, 45.4% of the females have been raped by an intimate partner while for the males the figure stands at 29%. More than 19.3 million have at one time or the other been stalked by their partners to the point where they feel unsafe, while 5.1% of males have also been stalked. There is also an element of homicides associated with the violence, where more than 72% of all murders are associated with an intimate partner. It is estimated that victims may lose 8 million days of paid work every year. While the cost of the violence is estimated at $8.3 billion every year.
