During the pre-industrial era, the demand for physicians was low due to various factors that have shown a great improvement in the current world. One of the main factors as to why the demand was inadequate is the fact that the levels of technology were low and, therefore, people did not depend much on it for treatment. Traditional methods were much preferred because they had a history of healing rather than choosing a technology that had no proof of healing (Gráda, 2016).
As well, education was not a very common aspect among many people. Hence, the fact that individuals were not enlightened about the different health issues affecting them and thus the inadequate demand for physicians. In a world whereby individuals saw the need for good medical care due to being educated, then there would be a lot of demand for physicians.
In addition, the demand for physicians was inadequate due to the lack of sophisticated equipment that would in turn aid in the treatment process. In severe cases of injury, there were high chances of death because most of the traditional methods of healing were ineffective. Therefore, the availability of such equipment could have increased the demand for physicians.
However, technology and medicine has increased the demand for physicians due the innovation of methods that proof to cure diseases faster as compared to the traditional methods whereby an individual could pass away during a trial treatment.
