The Japanese have a phrase that they use to refer to family, Kenzoku (Lickerman, 2016). This is a term that is used to refer to the element of forming a bond between two more people, where they share a commitment towards one another. They may as such be considered to be sharing the same destiny. There is an element of bonding that goes beyond general acquaintance. These are people that we have formed bonds, over the years and with quite some experiences (Lickerman, 2016). As such, for someone to be considered to be a true friend, they have to share with us some element of trust, loyalty, affection and love. There are some basic elements of shared interests, attachment to one another and mutual respect. It is common for true friends to know someone more than they know themselves.
Thesis statement: For someone to be a true friend, he/she has to be a person that one can rely on when in need.
Factors That Define True Friendship
One of the aspects that speaks to the definition of true friendship is that, there has to some shared interests. When people share interests, this helps them to bond much better than when they don’t. It means that, they have the chance to delight in something that they both draw pleasure from. While sometimes this is not an obvious element, it is crucial and tends to take place even without the knowledge of the parties.
