In a recent trend television has shifted relative to the programs that are available for the viewership. The shift has mainly been toward what is commonly referred to as, Reality Television. Like the name suggests, the shows are a representation of reality for the actors. Relative to the element that the shows tend to show some element reality for the audience, they have over the recent years gained massive popularity. However, there are element of the shows that are quite controversial from the fact that most of the time the participants in the show are coached, most of the scenes being restaged, fraudulent editing and deceptive story lines. It is this element of manipulation that has the shows to make a profitable venture for most of the production houses. At the same time, the shows are filled with controversy and outrageous scenes to help generate the level of viewership that will beat the competing shows. This is a profitable venture and the fact that most of the media houses are driven by the number of people watching their shows along with the money generated from the same. Reality shows, despite the level of controversies will continue to grow.
Over the years the reality television shows have grown more outrageous, instructional and dramatic. These are shows that have grown quite profitable over the years, generating billions in revenue for the production houses. This is an aspect that has to be considered when evaluating the success that the shows have had.
