I write to declare my interest in the Veterinary Assistant position at Zoetis, as advertised through the company’s LinkedIn profile. I am currently unemployed but fresh from completing my animal nursing degree. I am also a certified vet assistant and having grown up on a farm, I believe that I have earned enough experience and knowledge to be considered for the position.
Of all my qualifications, I believe my growing up in a farm stands out. In a farm, people are expected to interact with the animals at a deeper level and also connect with them in ways other people cannot. For instance, I was expected to make sure that all the cattle fed within a particular grazing ground and that none of them ever got injured. Empathy can never be faked, and in most occasions, pretenders get to be discovered fast. I believe that I have a passion and compassion for animals that is unique and deep.
As a vet assistant, one must also have flawless interpersonal skills. Communication is indeed essential in a majority if not all fields or industries. The fallacy many people often believe is that understanding everything about animals including their health and habits is enough to make an excellent vet assistant. However, while the above is essential, it is not the only qualification requirement. A person also needs to be able to converse well with pet owners and relay whichever information to them sensitively and comprehensively. Having done animal nursing in college, it would be inappropriate for me to use jargon from my course because clients might not be conversant with it. However, as a person who has had to deal with customers at the farm on numerous occasions, I believe that I have mastered the appropriate interpersonal skills to help me become a poten...
