A Two-Character Scene Creative Writing Essay Paper (Essay Sample)
Revisit the five characters you wrote about for Five Character Exercise. Envision one of these characters in a scene with another character. (Keep in mind that scene and summary are two different methods of treating time in fiction. You're shooting for a scene here, although you may want to introduce the scene with a few summary sentences.) It will help if you put the characters somewhere. They meet in a grocery store, in a holding cell, at the drive-in, the meat counter. In your scene, avoid abstract generalizations. Rely on concrete sensory details to reveal the feelings, attitudes, and emotions of the characters. Look upon this scene as a single page extracted from this character's story. Don't worry about providing background information.
Now put these two characters you've selected in a scene. Write and fill the scene with concrete details; avoid abstract generalizations.
