Public relation (PR) is an essential aspect of any business, whether big or small, from customer satisfaction reviews, and brand reputation. PR crises are almost unavoidable since the public can pick negative points concerning the business from anywhere. Digital marketing teams are usually part of the crisis response team in most businesses. In the face of a crisis, the digital marketing team should devise a strategy according to protocol and communicate effectively with all people who could stand to speak on their behalf (Caramela, 2022). These include all employees, board members, and stakeholders. Secondly, they should craft a response informing of a transparent message that addresses the situation, including what the company has done or will do about the issue at hand (Caramela, 2022). At all costs, they should avoid placing external blame.
The digital marketing team should then determine and address all affected parties. These include the employees, the media, customers, and all stakeholders. The message should be sent in a timely manner. They should then monitor the situation by assessing the company's brand image and keeping an eye on all communications, including those outbound or inbound, to address further concerns or questions (Caramela, 2022). Finally, the team should engage all the company's stakeholders, directors, business partners, and employees in reviewing the crisis and lessons to draw from it.
