This article entails reviewing the literature regarding how risk communication techniques are used for vulnerable communities at different stages of emergency response, preparedness, and recovery. The report also reviewed selected organization and governmental reports as well as regulations and statutes (Ritchie & MacDonald, 2010). It gave particular emphasis on rules chosen and laws because they are usually meant to guide local and state authorities.

The journal defines the crisis in risk communication, links its causes to several applied fields, and illustrates the incorporation of basic principles into the emergency preparedness as well as risk communication in the public health (Glik, 2007). Additionally, the paper reviews literature from crisis risk communication disciplines, which include health communication and promotion, disaster management, environmental risk communication, and studies in the media and communication field.
