Disaster communication is a vital component of responding to disaster and the initiation of recovery operations. Disaster communication helps in connecting affected people with the support system. When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, the Center for Disease Control deployed a team of experienced disaster communicators to support in disseminating information about Hurricane Maria to the affected people.
