Interpersonal communication is how we reach out willingly to exchange messages, feelings, and meaning verbally and non verbally ( Chaykin,2016). Interpersonal communication acts as the foundation of human interaction at the workplace, in colleges, and within the family. Interpersonal communication affects our daily lives since it increases job success and improves academic performance ( Chaykin,2016). Developing good interpersonal communication skills entail communicating with knowledge and thoughtfulness. Furthermore, acceptance of the other individual as an equal during communication helps achieve meaning during communication(Chaykin,2016).
Diversity entails recognizing, understanding, and respecting individual differences. Diversity can be along the dimensions of gender, sexual orientation, race, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and various ideologies. Diversity entails working together to eradicate all forms of discrimination by building connections across differences. Diversity practices involve having mutual respect for other individual's experiences that are different from our own.
The diversity in class difference tends to affect the interpersonal communication pattern. The cues used in identifying class differences and establishing an entire socialization process include education, money, job, and an individual's way of life. Such socialization processes influence the nature of interpersonal relationships we have with others. Class differences influence who people choose as their friends and as their lovers. The diversity in class difference affects who people decide to talk to and the quality of that conversation. People from the same social class are likely to interact compared to people from different social levels. The diversity in social class affects what people choose to talk about, influencing their overall cultural standpoint.
