EMG Final. Type of Disaster. Mitigation to Earthquake Disaster

Essay Instructions:

For your final Portfolio Project, identify a disaster that required the response of the local, state, and federal governments; the private sector; and volunteer (non-governmental) organizations. Discuss and evaluate the application of the four disciplines of emergency management and communications. Finally, discuss and assess the future effects and influence of this disaster on the implementation of emergency management.
Portfolio Project Sections:
Type of disaster: Choose a natural disaster that required local, state, and federal response efforts.
Mitigation tools and impediments to mitigation
Preparedness efforts (local, state, and federal governments; and volunteer groups, or non-governmental organizations)
Response efforts (local, state, and federal governments; and volunteer groups, or non-governmental organizations)
Recovery efforts (local, state, and federal governments; and volunteer groups, or non-governmental organizations)
Communications for response efforts, and the various methods of communication to the affected populations
Future effects and influence on the implementation of emergency management
Your paper should meet the following requirements:
Your paper should be 8-10 pages in length, not including the required title and reference pages.
You should properly reference and include at least five research articles from peer-reviewed, scholarly journals, in addition to the textbook. Do not use unverifiable sources, such as articles without a credible author or institution (e.g., blogs).

Type of Disaster
Earthquake is a natural calamity that occurs in various parts of the world occasionally. Earthquake is a sudden shaking effect of the surface of the earth due to the passage of seismic tides in the rocks of the ground. Seismic waves come from the earth`s coat when it suddenly discharges the stored energy. The earthquake leads to fracture and slip of the rock layers straining against one another. The occurrences of the earthquake happen mostly at the geologic faults, which the narrow zones where rock masses move against one another. Various sources cause the release of energy, such as chemical reactions, gravity, and elastic strain. Elastic strain is the most critical cause as it releases high forms of energy caused by significant disturbances of the earth surface.
However, as much as is a natural disaster, human activities have more considerably influence to the occurrence of the earthquake. For instance, human activities cause global warming and change in climate and weather that lead to an earthquake. The current technology facilitates the scientists with a way calculating the probability of an earthquake at particular and at the specified time. The scientists cannot predict and have never predicted the unravelling of the earthquake (Battarra, Balcik & Xu, 2018). On the contrary, the scientist can approximate the happening of the earthquake in future, but they have no means of estimating the exact time when it can happen. We have four different types of earthquakes according to scientific facts. The four varieties of earthquakes include tectonic, explosion, volcanic, and volcanic, which occurs as the crust of the break because of geological forces on underground rocks and the underjoining plates. It leads to changes in both physical and chemical effects.
Mitigation to Earthquake Disaster
Mitigation strategies help people in making decisions and choices on what actions they should typically take before, during, and the next disaster. It limits human and financial effects later through analysis, reducing, and enhancing the safety of humans and other factors against the risk. Mitigation knowledge comes from the past natural disaster in the geological history that had tremendous impacts to the general well-being of both life forms and non-life forms on the earth surface. Earthquake is becoming an emergent factor that occurs occasionally but leaves permanent effects on an entire world.
The United States has about fort-five states and territories that have the risk of earthquakes. Therefore, it is essentiality and a goal of all people to have the safety tips to learn how for future earthquakes. Governments and volunteer groups play a crucial role to educate the public on the proper mitigation approaches they should take future occurrences of earthquakes. Besides, scientific research section has various plans to sharing knowledge on the dangers associated with earthquakes. Science personnel are the appropriate people who people trust due to the continued research to the areas often at risk. People can play a crucial role to help themselves in case of an earthquake event. Ideally, there are three critical steps, which helps in the mitig...
