Advancements in technology have had a massive impact on our daily lives from the way we work, communicate, and even relate with one another. It has facilitated the digitization of personal, corporation, or government enterprises’ information and this poses a great threat to security and privacy. Although absolute immunity from privacy and security issues seems unlikely in the digital environment, every person has the responsibility of safeguarding their personalized information (Kissell, 2019). Every interaction one makes online leaves permanent trails commonly referred to as digital footprint with or without one’s consent. With the right amount of resources and expertise, digital footprint can be exploited to obtain personalized information or even an organization's crucial information. Digital footprint can have both positive and negative impacts depending on the motive of the information gatherer.
