Everyone is a negotiator in one way or another (Whitson,1998). Decisions are arrived at after negotiations. Negotiation strategies are best addressed by separating people from the problem, focusing on interests and not positions, planning for an invent options for mutual gain and insisting on objective criteria in judging a probable solution (Whitson,1998). Separating people from the problem will be of help in Disney World. This will make sure that all people understand each other and discourage people from becoming personal. Disney World has realized the importance of dealing with problems and maintaining a healthy working environment. Proper problem derailing negotiations entails perception, communication and emotional aspects. The second step in negotiation involves focusing on interest and not positions. It is important to note that each party in conflict has multiple interests (Whitson,1998). The basic human need is security, belonging, economic stability, control over one’s life and recognition. It is important for the negotiator to identify the interests of all the parties in conflict. The negotiator must not side with any party. It is vital to acknowledge their interests as one of the major source of conflict (Whitson,1998). It is important for the negotiator to be hard on the problem and soft on the people. The next stage involves inventing solutions for mutual gain. It is vital for the negotiator to separate judgments from inventions, broaden answers and options and invent on strategies that make decision making easy in Disney World.
