Negotiation is driven by the need of arriving to a desired end. Disney World has found it necessary to address the potential conflicts in the work place by the application of negotiation strategies. Everyone is a negotiator in one way or another (Whitson,1998). Decisions are arrived at after negotiations. Negotiation strategies are best addressed by separating people from the problem, focusing on interests and not positions, planning for an invent options for mutual gain and insisting on objective criteria in judging a probable solution (Whitson,1998). Separating people from the problem will be of help in Disney World. This will make sure that all people understand each other and discourage people from becoming personal. It is necessary considering that both sides under conflict involve human beings with feelings, values and cultural affiliations (Whitson,1998). Disney World has realized the importance of dealing with problems and maintaining a healthy working environment. Proper problem derailing negotiations entails perception, communication and emotional aspects. The second step in negotiation involves focusing on interest and not positions. It is important to note that each party in conflict has multiple interests (Whitson,1998). The basic human need is security, belonging, economic stability, control over one’s life and recognition. It is important for the negotiator to identify the interests of all the parties in conflict. The negotiator must not side with any party. It is vital to acknowledge their interests as one of the major source of conflict (Whitson,1998). It is important for the negotiator to be hard on the problem and soft on the people. The next stage involves inventing solutions for mutual gain. It is vital for the negotiator to separate judgments from inventions, broaden answers and options and invent on strategies that make decision making easy in Disney World. The final stage involves the usage of objective criteria. This does not take a side and it is termed independent. It is useful in creating a win-win situation (Whitson,1998). The solutions obtained from the objective criteria are rich in material and fair. This enables easy implementation of the solutions endorsed. Best solutions made in Disney World are based on market value, equal treatment, precedent and the efficiency gained. Negotiation is best based in upright reasoning (Whitson,1998). It is important ensuring that the negotiating parties do not get harmed by the decisions made. This will ensure a hygienic working relationship in Disney World. This is best done by building a relationship on trust, respect, understanding and friendship. Application of evidence based management in the working environment of Disney World Evidence based management commonly abbreviated with (EBMgt or EBM) is a strategy used by the application of the best and current evidences in decision making. Evidence based management involves organizational practices and managerial decisions directed by the best scientific evidence in place (Sutton, 2012). Disney World considers the ethical issues in place in managerial concerns. Disney World has found it important in enabling the managers in evidence based practices.
