Step A
1) Read Rona Akbari’s “How to make a zine”: https://thecreativeindependent(dot)com/guides/how-to-make-a-zine/. This article will describe the process of how to make a zine. In addition, Akbari provides several links to examples of zines you can find online.
2) Read Asian American Feminist Antibodies [care in the time of coronavirus]: https://www(dot)asianamfeminism(dot)org/resources This is an example of a zine created in response to living under COVID by the Asian American Feminist Collective.
3) Post your individual responses to your COIL team (minimum 200 words) in response to the following questions on the Asian American Feminist Antibodies [care in the time of coronavirus] zine:
a) Include the name and authors of the zine (is it an individual author or group? Can you tell if it was self-published or published through a zine publisher?)
b) What is the zine trying to express? What are the goals of the zine’s creators? Is there a coherent thread or organizing principle that the zine is organized around?
c) What kind of styles and voices are included in the zine? i.e. experimental or more traditional? Visually-oriented vs mostly text? A variety grab bag or more coherent as a whole journey?
