The controversial cheerios commercial featured a biracial daughter. She asked her white mother if cheerios are suitable for the heart's health. The mother replied that cheerios are ideal for the heart. The girl then dropped the cheerios on the black father's chest in a playful manner to help his heart be healthy while he was sleeping on the couch. The commercial aroused many public reactions, which can be seen from the video's comment section. Many liked the video and talked well about it, while others disliked it because it involved a mixed-racial family making an advert about cheerios.
When making an advert about a product, any company's primary goal is to make money by attracting more customers and educating them on the benefits of choosing a particular product. The campaign about Cheerio's main aim was to educate about the health benefits a person can get after taking Cheerios. This is seen by how the girl's mother states that cheerios are suitable and have many health benefits. The other objective of the campaign was to create awareness about the existence of cheerios. Many people knew that cheerios existed as a brand after watching the advert.
A campaign's success is measured by the reactions and the number of people concerned about it. According to the comment section, the cheerios campaign was a success because many people reacted positively. Based on the statistics, the commercial got over 37000 thumbs-up and 1900 thumbs down before the disabling of comment section was disabled due to abusive remarks, which were not healthy for family viewing. Moreover, a successful campaign grabs people's attention with design.
