Essay Instructions:

We’ve discussed the importance of personal branding and establishing yourself as an expert or go-to person in your chosen field or profession. There are several ways that this can be accomplished. Writing thought leadership articles is one such method, and a fantastic way to showcase your innovative thinking and expertise within your industry. Many of you have already begun to do so. If not, this exercise will give you a chance to practice doing just that.
For this assignment, you’ll practice writing your own brief Thought Leadership piece, or article. You get to choose the topic so pick something that is relevant to your personal brand/career, and that you can share with others. You can approach it from a number of angles. You can identify or propose a solution to a business issue, discuss industry trends, topics or suggest an idea/innovation that you feel is important.
Begin by brainstorming about your current business, or a business that you hope to get into. Think about the trends that you’re seeing, and what type of challenges or opportunities that you’ve encountered or that are occurring within the industry. Choose an issue (or two) that you believe will have a significant impact on the companies or clients in this space, and then research and write about it. Consider topics that can generally bring value to others.
By writing thought leadership articles, you bring value to your clients and others and showcase your expertise. If you’re able to establish yourself as a thought leader, and you may have already started doing so, you can also really set yourself apart from your competitors. This exercise will give you a chance to do that and is something that you can even post on LinkedIn and other places when you’re done.

The Future of Energy Mix
It is not a doubt that fossil energy remains the leading primary source of power around the globe, and any investment toward the oil and gas industry perfectly makes logical and business sense. Growing concerns about climate change and the rapid development of renewable energy are more than enough reasons to make one have a second thought about fossil energy. However, this should not create the impression that fossil energy should be faced out but rather present an opportunity to explore the options that have both economic and environmental benefits.
It is annoying to see activists all around the world protest against the causes of climate change that are bond to human interventions. Protesting is one way of raising issues, but there are other proactive means. One way is to acknowledge the fact that fossil fuels still dominate the energy sector, contributing more than 79 percent of the energy consumed in the United States alone (Desilver, 2020). Commercial industries, residentials, and the transport industry can barely survive without the use of fossil energy. Rather than the climate change activists advocating for the abolishment of fossil fuels, the best thing to do would be to suggest alternative ways in which harmful emissions from the burning of fossil fuels can be reduced. Better still, a more proactive way is for the activist to become innovative and come up with new energy sources that are eco-friendly and economically viable.
Oil and gas industries also have a role to play in the fight against climate change. Oil and gas extraction alone contributes close to 15% of greenhouse gas emitted into the atmosphere while the entire industry makes up to two-thirds of greenhouse emission (Grasso, 2019). It is high time that citizens of the planet make it their responsibility to address the problems facing the world, especially those that traced back to them. The oil and gas industry can...
