How does this leader handle the potential for being labeled "inconsistent" with regard to style?
In my previous internship program, I worked under a manager who practiced situational leadership. Situational leadership is based on how a leader handles a group in relation to the task ahead. It entails how best the leader guides the group towards achieving the set objective. Situation leadership requires a leader to provide moral support to group members to accomplish a task. In this type of leadership, the leader defines specific tasks to individuals by directing them on what to do, how to do it and also when to do it (Blanchard, 2008). Situational leadership requires a leader to look at the task at hand versus the people to assign the work to. For example, the leader would assign tasks in relation to individual’s qualification, looking at the right knowledge, skills and experience to perform the task after visualizing the outcome of the task.
