Alibaba continues to be among the largest retail and e-commerce companies globally and continues to grow due to its innovative initiatives (Jiang, 2019). Furthermore, it continues to grow due to a strong research and development program, and the company is also diversified, allowing for more seller and buyers to interact, which amounts to its growth. However, it faces the threat of an increase in the number of competitors, such as Amazon and Google, as well as its high-profile security breach. As a result, despite the company's steady growth, it is still facing numerous threats.
ISSUE:
Should Alibaba invest more capital for its expansion?
 ANALYSIS:
Yes, because it will help ensure that new technology is developed, allowing consumers and buyers to operate more efficiently. Furthermore, Alibaba should invest more capital to gain a competitive advantage over its rival (Marco, 2022). A better logistic network will be created with more capital, resulting in the company's growth. Third, to increase its market share, Alibaba should invest more capital to create effective firewalls that ensure high-profile security breaches are dealt with effectively. Also, by investing more capital, the company can expand into various untapped regions globally.
On the other hand, there is no need for more capital investment. The first reason is that with more capital investment, there is still the possibility of facing more unfavorable tariffs when doing business with other countries (Zhang, 2019). Additionally, investing more capital will still not be effective in case there is a slowdown in China's economy. Lastly, investing more capital does not guarantee that the loss Alibaba is likely to face due to counterfeit sellers will be fully mitigated.
 CONCLUSION:
There is a need for more capital investment for Alibaba to grow. It is ranked as the fourth-largest cloud provider globally, and if it aims to continue having a competitive advantage over its competitors, then this is a need for more capital investment so that it continues diversifying into multiple websites.
