Wedding planners are some of the key people in any wedding. These individuals literary take the stress away from the couple and ensure that one has a stress free wedding. In the past, many people went to great length to organize their weddings, but this has now changed as most people prefer to transfer the planning process to wedding planners. All that is needed is for the couple to work closely with the wedding planner in terms of indicating what they require and then leave the rest to the planner. Even if the couple does not know what they want, the event planner can come up with proposals that can produce a dream wedding. In this paper I report on my experience after I spend a day with a wedding planner.
Wedding planners treat their work just like any other profession. The wedding planner that I spend time with has six full time employees that help her in her work. Her day starts at 6.00 am where she spends time in the office going through her email to see if there are any new requests from clients. At 8.00 am she holds a meeting with her staff where they distribute the roles for the day (Daniels & Loveless, 2007). Of the six full time employees, one of them is stationed permanently at the office to receive customers who come into the office while the rest are field guys working to meet client needs. While the business owner’s day starts at six in the morning, the rest of the staff come in at eight and leave at five in the evening but the working hours can be extended depending on the magnitude of the work.
The favorite event that the wedding planner has ever done was organizing a wedding for a business tycoon. The couple in this particular wedding had wanted to be flown across the Atlantic in their personal jet and the wedding planner had been requested to join in the voyage to ensure that their honeymoon was memorable. Even though being away from the business for two weeks was not something that she fancied, the client paid her enough money to compensate for the clients that she lost and it also gave her an opportunity to tour the world without spending her resources.
One of the things that wedding planners constantly have to deal with are vendors. The wedding planner organizes meetings with all vendors as a way of establishing the one that is likely to offer the best services and goods at a reasonable price.
