Recent Republican pushback against banking and financial regulation has garnered in national interests with the party’s legislators largely supporting repealing regulations of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act adopted. While the Obama administration adopted more regulations because of the 2008/2009 financial crisis, critics have raised concerns about their impact on limiting lending and choice one of the areas likely to be affected is the regulation of trading derivatives. The goal of regulating the derivatives training was minimizing systemic risk associated with the financial instruments, ensuring transparency in the derivatives markets and prohibiting parties using customer deposits for speculative derivatives transactions.
