The main difference between a public and private organization can be analyzed through the differences in the respective environments in which they operate. A public organization works in a completely different business environment to that of a private one. The first difference is that they do not usually face the same type of competitors, for example, a private organization usually faces market competition while a public organization faces competition in terms of budgetary and jurisdiction.
