Even though, search engines provide useful information on medical conditions, there are concerns about the privacy of the information (Laudon & Traver, 2014). Information privacy is important in the medical field, e-commerce and use of the internet. The risk that unauthorized people would access patient information is potentially harmful to the internet users. The privacy of information is a concern while using the internet, as users expect that there be free from surveillance. At other times, the person may encounter false advertising and may be overwhelmed by the information. The case for information privacy is that certain information pertaining to medical conditions ought not to be collected. Individuals have the right to determine how the information is used, but when the information is collected after using search engines they lose the power to control it (Laudon & Traver, 2014). There is an ethical dimension on how the information collected by the search engines should be used.
